My Trunk Show Quilt Part of Permanent Collection at Kresge Art Museum (Michigan State Univ.)

I’m thrilled to share the news that my SAQA Trunk Show quilt, Luka’s Eyes, has been chosen to become part of the permanent collection at Kresge Art Museum at Michigan State University.

This little portrait, like all the trunk show pieces, measures 8x8 in. and is matted in a 12x12 frame.

The show’s theme called for artists to answer the question “How do we as SAQA members explain what we do – create quilts – without people immediately thinking of a nine patch that goes on your bed?”

The entire Trunk Show contains 268 small art quilts and will travel around the world from now until 2013.  This week, my quilt is somewhere between Oregon and Northern California.

Fifty quilts were chosen to become part of Kresge Art Museum’s permanent collection at the end of the exhibition.

It’s a little sad to think that “Luka” will not be coming back to me after his amazing tour, but I think he has found a very nice home.
